the way that the systemd developers are approaching the world nowadays.
I wrote more about that in SystemdAndItsIdealism.

If
systemd
had kept to process management many people would be okay, but at this point even GNOME has a dependency on it. And exactly why did
udev
have to be incorporated into it in a monolithic / tight coupling fashion?

Then there's the logging: if you want to improve it then create a new logging system, but how many years has it been and
journald
still can't send logs off-machine? Really? I have to start up (e.g.)
rsyslogd
and use that on my servers as well? I now have two logging systems running. And
journald
isn't ACID, so you can loose data? That's an "improvement"?

Then there's the file system mounting: "Oh, one half of your mirrored-pair is unavailable? I'll just halt on boot." No you fool, I set up mirrors so things keep going!

I think
systemd
will end up illustrating a Jamie Zawinski (JWZ) quotation and continue to expand until it can read mail.
