We used to use F5 BigIPs, and the license on them was for something like 100 SSL transactions per second. But it was actually implemented as 1 transaction every 10ms. So even the tiniest bit of concurrency caused it to throw errors. (That was the experience that made me fully believe that hardware load balancers are just kind of a waste of money.)</p>
