<p>Vegeta does perform exactly N * M requests where N is request rate and M is duration. It may take more than M seconds to complete due to server processing time and transport time, but by default it will wait for all requests to be executed. You may specify a -timeout option which will be applied to each request.</p>
<p>On resource utilisation, if you're hitting the limits of a single machine, you can easily distribute a vegeta attack to multiple machines as illustrated here: <a href="https://github.com/tsenart/vegeta/wiki/Distributed-Attack">https://github.com/tsenart/vegeta/wiki/Distributed-Attack</a></p>
